Ayurveda has given the common name Mutra-Krichha 9scanty or painful urination) to diseases of the kidney whose cardinal symptom is a pain at the time of urination. The cardinal symptoms of dysuria are scanty discharge, pain in the processor urination, pain in the penis(in women in the ovaries), blood mixed urine, feeling of heaviness in the renal region and also the scrotum and the ever-present urge to pass urine.

A decoction of the drug may also be given in 50 ml doses thriceA decoction

of the bark of Varuna tree is also useful in dealing with this condition.

In case urine is obstructed by a stone in the urinary tract, Gokshuradi-Guggulu is the drug for relief.

The most important drug used for this condition is shilajita followed by the compound preparations Chandra-prabha Vati.

Other prescriptions for painful or scanty urine are as follows-

Eladi Churna 1 gm

Shweta Parpati  1 gm

Yavakshara 1/2 gm

To be given four times in the day with dection of Pashanabhedadi.

2. Mutrakrichhakantaka Rasa 240 mg

Shweta Parpati       2gm.

to be given with Amritadi

Quath sic times a day.

The patient should be advised to desist from eating beans and pulses.

The White variety of Pumpkin and gourds are useful for the condition. Green vegetables like tomatoes, spinach, and lady’s finger should be avoided. Constipation should be avoided by mild laxatives.

The intake of liquids, particularly water, should be increased.

If dysuria is due to liquids, particularly water, should be increased.

If dysuria is due to vitiation of Pitta or Kapha. the following drugs are very useful.

1. Trinetra Rasa 240 mg.

Chandrakala Rasa 24o mg

Sheetala Parpati 2 gm.

To be given thrice with Trinapanchamula Quath.

2, Khasoraka yoga 240 MG

varunadya Lauha 500 mg.

Powder of cardamom seeds 500 mg.

To be given thrice daily with honey.

3. Mutrakrichhantaka Rasa 240 mg.

Varitara Lauha Bhasma 120 mg.

To be given thrice with honey.

4. Shilajita 500 mg.

power of cardamom seeds 500 mg.

To be given thrice daily with honey.

If there comes blood in the urine then the following prescription is helpful-

Rasa Sindura 120 mg

Honey to Trikantakadya Grita 10 gm

to be given thrice daily.

In addition, fomentation of the renal region with a hot water bottle is also very helpful in the pain dysuria.
